Into Oblivion (A Return from the Stars)

The Story, Into OblivionThis science fiction/fantasy novel takes a bold look into our future within our own solar system. The premise starts with the return of an interstellar voyage which embarked more than a century ago with its mission to search out for another civilization. The crew, who has suffered through tragedy and failure during their own journey, now faces the reality of their old home. They encounter other humans that disappoint their welcome with same basic human immorality and greed, which were present when they first left. But worse, their own home, Earth has now been invaded by beings with sadistic but unknown motives. Unnatural beings make themselves known to the crew, which offers guidance in their trip through the solar system. The crew needs to decide whether to trust these new entities or go out on their own. The six surviving crewmembers are diverse with varying views and background, but they must work to together to survive this last leg of their journey. The novel is approximately 101,000 words in length and though it is a complete work on its own, it does naturally lead into a second novel, which I am currently writing. The Author, Allan WeberI am an amateur novelist, but I have been published over 60 times in medical journals and scientific conferences. Science is my profession with an earned PhD in pharmaceutics at the University of Washington. However, astronomy and astrophysics have always been my first love but I do not possess the patience or skills for the advanced mathematics necessary for those fields; therefore fiction has become my escape into those beloved areas.
