Mega Therapy!!

Among the very best relationship books recently published. Had to of saved me many 50 minute therapy sessions. Howard Schecter is personal, deep and real. Highly recommended.

Inspiring and clear!

I have never read a more complete and succinct guide to getting honest in a relationship. I plan on reading it again and again because it was so inspiring and clear. I look forward to going into the deeper work. In 147 pages it covers all anyone will ever need to know about self conduct within a relationship.

An opportunity for growth and insight

This is a lovely piece of work that inspires us as a couple and individually. As part of our desire to have a deeper connection, we have used Intimate Partners as a workbook. My husband and I have had the privilege of participating in the couples group that Dr Schecther and his partner Barbara Lee have lead in Modesto for 10 years. When we began our journey with this group we were starting to accumulate some anger and resentment towards each other. These were old feelings that I had experienced in my previous marriage. I was surprised to see them surface again. I totally expected that we would go to this group and that Joel would see how wrong my husband was and fix him. I was in for a surprise, as I attempted to complain to Joel about all of the things that my husband was doing wrong he kept gently bringing me back to myself and what I was experiencing. I was not an easy study, it took me a long time to stop blaming my husband. However, once I began to experience the freedom of not being a victim to my husband's behavior but rather showing up and telling the truth of what I was feeling; it was simply amazing instead of anger and resentment I began to feel compassion for both myself and my husband.
