Intimate partner violence

Violence suffered by women in intimate relationships continues to be a major issue for public health in Brazil and worldwide. This study was carried out for the Master's Dissertation in Public Health at the Department of Social Medicine of the Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil, in 2008. The cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the association between intimate partner violence and other factors associated with intended pregnancy among pregnant women aged 18 to 49 enrolled in a Family Health programme in the city of Recife. The text reveals various associations with the outcome and is an invitation to reflect on the subject.
