I found this book to be a great study resource for my ambulatory medicine clerkship. It goes over bread and butter things you will see in outpatient clinic, differential diagnoses, and guidelines for workups. It is also a good resource for inpatient medicine, with a lot of "must not miss" tips and tidbits, again complete with how you work up patients presenting with certain symptoms and diagnoses and important treatments. Its also a quick read and well organized. The first part of the book is organized based on symptoms (e.g. chest pain, dyspepsia), which is great for outpatient medicine. And the second part of the books is organized by system (e.g. cardiovascular, nephrology) and gives more in depth info on how to diagnose conditions and treatments. Each chapter has a couple of cases at the end to help synthesize information learned. There is also a test at the end that I used to study for my ambulatory shelf. It was the only book I needed for ambulatory, but should probably be supplemented for inpatient medicine.
