This was quite an expose in Russia at the time. It was one of the first books that openly discussed a topic related to sex. Currency difficulties still haunt the Russian and Belarussian countries. Banking is an ify afair. Leaving the country is also difficult on the Russian side and the American side. We don't like the President of Belarus so we block Belarusian applicants, makes sense doesn't it? We have looked down on Russian and it's allies but realistically their education quality is second to none. The methods they use are not that of a free people so I would not want to duplicate the systems but the quality is amazing. The end of the book might not speak fully of what is happening to this woman. Leaving your home and home country including it's language is a difficult process. After ten years here my wife still has to translate from English to Russian back to English. The social structure in those countries is much closer than here. My wife says, "You don't need a psychiatrist you have your friends." We should be so lucky. We don't even talk to each other let alone let them depend on us. We drive home to our homes shut the door and don't come out until we are ready to leave again. Where did we leave our connectedness behind?
