When Patrick Nelson, a blue-collar construction worker loses his job at the height of the 2008 housing crisis and is unable to continue paying his mortgage, he makes a desperate bid to keep his family afloat by aiding in a bank heist that takes a disastrous turn. As a result, he is brought into custody while his accomplice escapes on the run. Subsequently, Patrick is given an ultimatum to work with investigators and help capture his abettor in exchange for clearing his debt. However, matters take a sinister turn when the fugitive finds out about Patrick's disloyalty and threatens his family for ransom. In a race against time, Patrick will have to choose between listening to federal agents or his former accomplice if he wants to keep his family safe.
