This donation is considered one of the most extensive in the history of the Galerie der Gegenwart. Alexander Schr der (*1968) grew up in Hamburg and founded the Gallery NEU in Berlin in 1994. The works in his collection provide an excellent overview of artistic positions from the 1970s to the immediate present, revealing perspectives and specifically questioning existing norms with regard to social spaces, architecture, institutions, gender, identity, sexuality, migration, national statehood, and racism.
