A great overview of the greatest city in the world! The book is well arranged starting with an concise orientation guide; then there's a section devoted to the neighborhoods that give the City its heart and soul. There are restaurant and bar reviews, lists of cultural sites and an indispensable resource guide (everything from emergency dental care to renting bicycles!) Well designed with black and white photos and a usable index. This is a terrific gift for the high school grad coming to NYC for college as well as for the college grad looking to start out (yes, there's a section on apartment rentals.) The Guide is honest and up to date and best of all, it comes with a subway map to fit into your wallet.
Excellent!!!!

I just moved to New York, and this book has made the transition extremely easy. With its really helpful reviews, witty prose, and fun features, it can't be beat. Most other guides are extremely boring, but Inside New York reads like a novel. The City Living section was particularly helpful, teaching me all the basics of how to become a real New Yorker, like how to ride the subway and where to go for my dry cleaning. I recommend this book to anyone searching for an exciting adventure in New York! Be sure to check out the "Day-In" features, they are especially well-done.
