The study of biodiversity associated with agro-ecosystems such as rice fields is of significance for agroecologists and conservation biologists. Order Lepidoptera diversity was studied in their level of species richness. In view of these facts the present study was designed to study the diversity and distribution of insects in Kanakkampalayam, Athani and Mevani, Erode district. Increased human activities and unfavourable climatic conditions, urbanization also influences the distribution of insects in the study area.
