He practiced law at the state and federal levels in California for almost 20 years before voluntarily ending his law practice to focus exclusively on philosophy, his first love. He has published 8 books and numerous writings in journals such as Ethics, Law and Philosophy, Contemporary Philosophy, Vera Lex, and others. He currently enjoys tenure as the most senior member of the Philosophy Dept. at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, California, where he has taught since 2001. He is married, with children, and divides his time mainly between Northern California and Nevada.
