Zoe Marshburn runs Creek Inn on a finger of Beaufort, North Carolina, voted coolest small town in America. With a population of five thousand, the area is quaint and caters well to tourists, who come to boat, shrimp, kayak, swim, hunt and eat southern food. Nothing bad ever happens in this town, at least not until Zoe's business had been open for a few years. When one of Zoe's guests is killed by gunshot and it is written off as a hunting accident by the bumbling Sheriff Bodean Bucklin, who shows little interest in finding the culprit, Zoe, her boyfriend, Jake, and a few neighbors make it their mission to discover the truth, putting themselves in danger as a result. Though murder is the watchword, the book is filled with comic relief, and colorful characters, making it not only a good read, but refreshing and laugh out loud.
