Reading this book was for me a vital key in beginning to reclaim a deeper connection to my heritage and family history. Of course, it was not exactly my history, but it provided a roadmap--guided by an honest and sensitive voice--of the real landscape that generations of our human family travel. I found the book just at the time when I was most receptive to its story, and found it so meaningful. The story of the migration of Russian Jews to the United States at the beginning of the 20th century certainly has been told. Like me, not all of us grew up aware of this rich texture and able to use it to push off from. By giving voice to the yearning and growing personality of our narrator, Krepismann makes a very personal story both visceral and universal.

Loved your book! Read it in just about one sitting. Left it with a psychiatrist friend. I know she'll identify. She is a poet and was professor of literature at MIU. I particularly was impressed by the intro where you explained the whys--beautiful. Great, funny/sad stories.
