The oldest scripture in the Indian subcontinent is the Rig Veda. It's substance comprises of over 10,000 verse in hymns, known as riks. Riks is likened to the horse, it's focussed vision nobly moves in metered verse towards an image of manifestation (chitra). The nobility of this contemplation leads to srava, gospel or the highest expression of sound to speech that inherently attunes meaning in its audience of the gods. The other holy animal, the cow is likened to a phenomena called rayi, which is like a curious wealth of grace, or shine that allows things and beings to stand out their god-like stature. By design, the rigveda is cryptic, and when taken into account that language(even sanskrit) came to exist much much later and probably as a means in itself to understand the rigveda and its possible meaning. Even today, a satisfactory understanding of it is illusive. Only by a grasp of subjective application is there a means to recognise in familiarity the deep matters of consciousness that are laid bare in this divine treatise. This offering(book) contains a glossary of over 3000 words and terms used in the rigveda with their definitions and rendition. The second part is the Rig Veda Mandala one(out of 10), containing 191 hymns in their original Sanskrit verse and their english transliteration for reading and enunciation. The third part is a Sanskrit to english dictionary for good measure, with close to 9000 words. THIS IS NOT A TRANSLATION. Rather a study series empowering the soul-fulfilling endeavour of studying and discerning for yourself your subjective key of existence. And it always helps to have a copy of RigVeda original text around, just for perspective.
