Infant Feeding and Growth in Morocco

The study of early childhood nutrition is of great interest given the specific nutritional needs associated with growth. In Morocco, infants are breastfed at birth but only for a period of 5 months. This indicates a significant decline in the duration of breastfeeding; consequently, the introduction of complementary foods occurs early, around 4 months of age. The infants' diet does not meet all their nutritional needs, and deficiencies are observed. Infant growth is normal compared to the WHO reference population. However, their nutritional status reflects the dual burden of malnutrition characteristic of developing countries. Nutritional disorders are linked to living conditions and dietary imbalances. Improving these conditions enables optimal growth.
