Okerome Inyi is an elders' council in Inyi, established to mediate, conciliate, and negotiate conflicts within the community. This powerful and highly respected institution is as old as the town itself. Despite the effects of globalization, Okerome Inyi continues to exist, albeit with some modifications in its operations to reflect modern realities. However, its prestige and respect remain intact. This book seeks to establish that the African Indigenous Conflict Resolution Mechanism is more effective in fostering unity and healing the wounds of conflict compared to modern court systems, which often create divisions. The time-tested practices of Okerome Inyi inspired this research to challenge the erroneous narrative perpetuated. Historical evidence reveals that invasion disrupted African cultural practices and imposed foreign systems upon the continent. The book advocates for the promotion of Indigenous African Conflict Resolution Mechanisms and calls on African governments to integrate these practices into their justice systems.
