Easy read, lovingly written

Easy read, lovingly written in well turned light prose for young readers.A novel, but mostly factual, about the life and death of the great African elephant known as Jumbo who died in a rail accident at St. Thomas, Ontario, in 1885.The fictional portion is a story thread about a young English boy who becomes best friends with Jumbo. Well worth reading for any age but ideally suited to be read by children.
