Her past trauma from serving in Iraq has left her with PTSD, and she seeks solace in the quiet of her grandfather's cabin at Cross Point. This sacred location, according to Abenaki tribal lore, serves as a spiritual crossing point for ancient Native spirits. When a wounded winged man mysteriously appears at Cross Point in a whirlwind that deposits him in the lake, Mariel's life takes an unexpected turn. And so does S r n's, who finds himself in a world vastly different than his own.

As Mariel and S r n learn of one another, they must find a way for him to return home while keeping his true identity hidden from a local eccentric and nosy alien hunter who believes he is on the trail of a genuine space alien, and may have ties with the Pentagon's paranormal investigative department.
