Yes, Chris de Rose is "in your face" and he makes no apologies. But he's really got something to say, too. Sometimes hard to read if you really love animals and abhor vivsection... but a "must read" for anyone who really cares about our fellow living things. Staci Layne Wilson
Proof That Angels Walk the Earth

Angel or madman? Hero or heretic? "In Your Face" is the riveting true-life story of one of the bravest men in America. As hair-raising as a well-crafted crime novel, this book is so shocking, it's hard to believe it's not fiction. For the fate of animals in laboratories, we can only wish it were. Suspenseful, gritty, treacherously honest, and heart-breakingly beautiful, "In Your Face" chronicles one man's fight against pet theft and the heinous crimes and atrocities performed on animals every day in the name of medicine. Chris single-handedly champions the animals against the indifference of the public and the legal system toward animal cruelty and injustice. Chris is living proof that one person can change the world. Read it and join him...but block off some time. You won't be able to put it down. There's only one thing wrong with this book. It wasn't long enough. By the way, Chris claims to not believe in God because a benevolent God couldn't have created a world where there is so much suffering. My message to the author: Cut God some slack, Chris. You're the reason the world is so screwed up. God ran out of time creating everyone else. He spent all His time on you.
Torture, by any name...

I'm not a fan of cliches. But since I read this book in a day, how can I avoid saying "I couldn't put it down"! I'm an armchair activist - letters, letters, letters. I don't know where Chris DeRose finds the strength to put himself in situations where hideous cruelty is right there "in his face." Thank heavens he does, and that he chose to share his Direct Action experiences with us. His tale is gripping. And it is a punchy statement on a society which condones, even encourages, torture.
Celebrities support this book...

Kim Basinger -"...A straight shooter-- outspoken and totally fearless in the face of the adversary, Chris is a true friend to the animals of this world and in many instances has put his life on the line for them. I wish there were more people like him. John Travolta -"Chris DeRose is the most committed animal rights activist I know!" Linda Blair -"No other human I know works as hard as Chris to fight against the injustice and inhumanity done to animals."
Hard Hitting- There really are stolen pets in research!

The book is a quick read-- It's hard to put down, because it moves fast. The author is passionatly committed to the cause of animal rights, and puts himself on the line to prove his point. I liked his reasoning for his beliefs, and his straight forward writing style. He is a friend of any pet owner who doesn't want their animal being stolen and sold for research. He supports the bill in congress, HR 594, the Pet Safety and Protection Act, and asks readers to call their legislators to cosponsor the legislation
