This book uses deeply problematic framing, referring to enslaved people as "property" and human beings seeking freedom as "fugitives." It even describes Harriet Tubman as having "failed her weaving lessons" while being held and forced into labor against her will. This clinical, detached treatment of slavery using a revisionist framing is offensive and historically tone-deaf. I do not recommend this for anyone seeking a respectful account of her life and humanity.
