This book is a collection of memories, and stories from U.S. Public Health Service Officers assigned to the Indian Health Service. The IHS serves Native American and Alaska Natives with healthcare and preventive healthcare services. The engineer and sanitarian category officers provide water and waste water facilities, as well as preventive health services to natives from Alaska to all states with native populations. The Office of Environmental Health and Engineering staff has done remarkable work over the last sixty-four years to improve the health and well-being of the native people. This publication will help to document some of those accomplishments and the valued-added to those communities by using commissioned officers to do that work.
