Good Book for a Christian Struggling with Bipolar

This was a great, quickly readable book about a Christian woman sruggling with Bipolar disorder.

In the Pit

From a consumer point of view, the book takes a strong look at the effects that bipolar can have on family, friends and self. Ms. Hagerman immerses herself in the place where most Christians are, in the hand of God. Yet wondering why is this happening to me? What have I ever done to deserve this? God or not, it is a question we all ask ourselves because we feel that we need to have an answer, the one we want, and we have to have it now. From a Christian point of view we must immediately recognize that God answers, when He is ready to answer. Ms. Hagerman makes a good point of embedding this in us. Unfortunately, the later half of the book stuck tenaciously to biblical quotations and philosophy without dealing with the healing powers of a relationship with God Nor does it seem to mention the affect of God's guidance of the Medical Professionals that work through Him, to help us be better.

scripturally sound

This book is filled with encouragement and hope. The author shares her story, her struggles with her identity in Jesus and the everyday torment due to mental illness. She also shares sound and proven theraputic tools to help with some of the difficult thoughts process that we who struggle with bipolar endure. If you don't know that Jesus loves you, you will believe it by the time you get to the end of her book. She shares truths and hope that only God can bring.

Very encouraging book

I read the book in 24 hours altough my English is second language. I praise the Lord for such an insightful, rich, encouragin and motivating in this book.I don't mean that Author tells all the time about Satan is the responsible for telling us ugly, bad, etc. words, but it seems like most of the time Satan is responsible for putting words into our minds in this book. I do aggree that Satan blames us, but we ought to think about our sinful nature as well. Deceitfulness of sin sometimes can be mixed with Satan. I would recommenyt John Owen's 'Sin and Temptation' book in order to understand deeply deceitfulness of sin.I was reminded again by this book that understanding our Justification is VERY IMPORTANT for life. Our joy and rest comes from it. Our joy rests in our justification through Christ alone."The joy of the Lord is your strength." - Nehemiah 8:10
