From the moment Talisa London woke on the operating table and looked into Dr. Jericho Becton's mesmerizing blue-green gaze, she knew he was unlike any other man she'd ever met. Running into him a few weeks later only confirmed the spark between them wasn't imagined. But this time they were in a war-torn African nation, far from the safety of their Atlanta home.... Working toward a common goal in a world where danger lurked in every corner, Jericho and Talisa found themselves swept up in a wave of desire that left them both breathless and wanting more. But would they survive their mission with their love--and lives--intact?
In,In The Light of Love we're introduced Talisa London, who is about to lead a college youth ministry to Uganda on a mission for eight weeks. Dr.Jericho Becton is a young surgeon head to war torn Uganda for a year to donate his medical services at an orphanage run by a friend. But first he's been 'volunteered' to participate in a charity bachelor auction his mother's women's group is hosting. Talisa's three best friends take her to the same bachelor auction to celebrate her twenty-fifth birthday. When she and Jericho lock eyes from across the room there is and instant attraction and something very familiar to each of them about the other. At the urging of her friends she decides to bid on the good doctor... (you'll have to buy the book to find out how their evening turns out) When next they meet it's in Uganda and the attraction is stronger then ever. Working tirelessly side by side amidst war, death and devastation, their love blossoms. But when one of their lives hangs in the balance can their love sustain them? Author Deborah Fletcher Mello is known for her wonderful romance novels and she doesn't disappoint us with Talisa and Jericho's story but there's so much more to this book. Through the author's words we're given a brief glimpse of the crisis and suffering in war torn northern Uganda and Darfur, Sudan. Mrs.Fletcher Mello will be donating 50% of all royalties she earns between February 1, 2007 and June 30, 2007 from the sales of IN THE LIGHT OF LOVE to World Vision to be used toward food and supplies to aid the women and children suffering in Darfur, Sudan. So by purchasing this book you too will be helping aid those in need. I enjoyed this book and the secondary characters. I hope the author is considering giving each of Talisa's girlfriends their own stories.
The "Light" reveals some serious issues

Ms. Fletcher-Mello writes a lovely story - the couple Jericho and Talisa have a very 'neat and compact' love story - its the characters around this couple that really make the story - Jericho and Talisa end up meeting in Africa, he a doctor and she doing some mission work with college students. The author writes vividly about what life is like in the motherland that is realistic and shocking. Talisa's mother suffers from a mental illness that she has denied and refused medical care for years. Talisa and her father have dealt with this for a long time - the author once again writes very poignantly about mental illness and the Black family and exactly what it entails - hurt, denial, crisis, care, reflection and acceptance with a long road involving forgiveness and healing. A romance around these two major issues? Ms Fletcher-Mello has done an outstanding job indeed.:)

I could not put this book down. It was great to see the lengths that Jericho and Talisa were willing to go to be together especially when they couldn't find Jericho and Moses. It wasn't anything she wouldn't do to find him. It was good to see the love story and also see what is going on in Africa and to also see how volunteering can help. I was glad that Jericho decided to go back to Africa to finish volunteering and that Talisa was going to join him. Tiffany

I must say this is my favorite book of Deborah Fletcher Mello. I found myself really engrossed with the characters like I knew the characters personally. Even though they didnt get the date they wanted when they first met, I like how Talisha & Dr Becton got together. I like how her mom was portrayed (not everyone mom got it together)Throught it all Talisha never let it get her down. Who would have thought thats how they would become one, working on a great cause. I felt for Talisha when her sweetheart was missing. A good book to read.

I couldn't put this book down since the moment I got it. The chemistry and the love between Jericho and Talisa jump off the page. You want to see them together and like the development of their relationship. The situation they are in speeds up their closeness and their intimacy, but all in a realistic way. I also loved Jericho's friends who basically knew before Jericho did that Talisa would be the one for him. There are touching moments, funny ones, and steamy ones that will make you want to re-read book again. This is a great book and highly recommended. I've only read a few of Deborah Fletcher Mello's books, but after this one, I will go back and read the ones I've missed.
