In The Absence Of Love

Born in 1940 Eileen was the eldest child of a spendthrift, drunkard father and a weak, self-serving mother. After years of cruel beatings and terrible sexual abuse, the young child is placed into the dictatorial care of a children's home. At the age of 15 she embarks on a career in the Nursing profession and later join the army to escape her mothers attempts to get her to return to the family. Posted to the Military Hospital in Singapore she meets a Naval rating who she marries on her return to the UK and starts a family. At the age of thirty five cancer is diagnosed and later still the fearful disease strikes yet again. This is a true account, told with such frankness, of pain, suffering and setbacks that end in triumph over the psychological and evil torments of the mind. It sets an example to the many victims of physical and sexual abuse to persevere, hold their heads up high and aim for the stars.
