Joe's life has intersected with history in remarkable ways, from witnessing the visit of Japanese Emperor Hirohito to Hawaii in 1977, to once working for basketball legend Artis Gilmore's cleaning company. A passionate football historian, Joe still treasures the day when, as an 11-year-old, his football was autographed by the legendary Jim Brown.
