In Search of the Trojan War (1985 TV mini-series documentary).

Although this was the first book I read in the search series, I started with "In Search of Shakespeare" (2003 TV series documentary). You can imagine my surprise at seeing a young Michael Wood. The technology is amusing. However, the lack of better graphics and either dull original recordings or poor transfers can sometimes distract from the message. This series, "In Search of the Trojan War," is quite extensive, and they had to pack a lot of information into just 6 episodes. Each episode is dense enough that you need to take your time to absorb the details and look up related topics before watching the next one. Even though the series is a bit outdated, most of it isn't noticeable, and you still have a lot to learn from the available information. I swear that even after reading several translations of the Iliad and watching the recent movie, Michael Wood still found passages I somehow missed. In any event, your video library would be lacking without this presentation, and you will find yourself periodically reviewing this series as a marathon. The series doesn't reveal much about Michael, and even his books seem to lack a detailed biography.
