A Civil Engineer by profession, Wayne Westfall has called on his training for order and structure to write traditional rhyming poetry for celebrating lives of family and friends, for entertaining through fiction and humor, and for challenging readers to give thought to the question 'Why are we here and where are we going?'. "In Search of Serenity" is an account of a homeless man who arrives at this place in life due to a few bad breaks and poor decisions. A totally fictional story, it was inspired by a real event: a poorly-dressed man riding a bicycle across a parking lot. The author never spoke to this person. If you're testing the water, "Just Sayin'" and "I See the Problem" should make you smile. "Goodbye My Little Lacy Love" may bring emotion. "My Puppy" may do both. Those over 65 will relate to "Ageless or Aged?" and "Bittersweet Seventy-five". No, it's not 'free verse'. Even if this is not your style, you might appreciate the effort required to create these stories with relatively precise meter, rhyming that does not appear forced, and language we speak in this century.
