In search of humanity: Kant, Nietzsche and us

Need it be said that one of the fundamental indicators of a philosophy's value is its capacity to fertilize reflection on questions deemed essential to human existence and dignity? In the thoughts of Immanuel Kant and Friedrich Nietzsche, we find prototypes of fertile philosophies for reflection on the type of humanity that deserves to be claimed, today, in Africa, as elsewhere in the world. Our investigation is presented first as an analysis, then as a critical study of Kantian and Nietzschean conceptions of humanity. The aim of this odyssey is to clear a path towards the form of humanity we consider, not as the best, but as the most adapted to the demands of today's societies, which are increasingly involved in a process of globalization characterized by a dual and paradoxical quest for humanity and domination.
