A great example of toy camera photography

This book by Kathy Smith is a great example of toy camera photography. With her Diana, a medium format plastic lens camera, she takes the reader on a visual walk through Seattle. Featured within you will find local landmarks, wonderful architecture and even simple, everyday scenes captured in the way only a toy camera can in the hands of Kathy Smith. Whether you're a photographer or just a fan of toy cameras, this book needs to be in your collection.

Outstanding

A dreamy way of looking at Seattle from a fresh perspective. Easily one of my favorite photo books and a good addition to anyones collection.

A Great Trip

I know very little about Seattle, I've never been there. I have to confess, I bought this book because I heard the photographs were all made with a plastic Diana camera, and I have a long standing love affair with the Diana. But Kathy Smith, and her camera, has taken me on a very enjoyable tour of the city, the real city, from the Space needle to the waterfront. From the public markets to the International District. Sculptural reliefs, and whimsical architecture. Page after page of timeless, almost dream-like photographs of a city I've never seen, yet I feel comfortable there. For anyone who wants a change of pace, I'd highly recommend In Plain View, Seattle. Thanks for the tour.

Timeless capture.

What a lovely catalogue of work from Kathy Smith. It isn't until you've realized her medium is a toy camera that you truly grasp just what an eye Smith has. She manages to capture images in Seattle and leave us wondering if we've indeed traveled to the past or simply been sucked into one of the images in her book that seem to perfectly capture present day Seattle meeting up with a reflection of its own past. Smith manages to find her images hidden amongst a busy city and capture them in such a way as to remind us to stop and breathe in the surroundings and settle into the moments between the chaos, where we very well may travel back in time: if only in our own minds and through these images. I highly recommend this book and look forward to future works by Kathy Smith. Bring me the hidden parts of all my favorite cities!.
