Top-notch biography!

This book is written by Robert Bell, who in 1942 was 11 years old, and the son of a widowed missionary to Africa. Because of the war, his mother, sister, himself, and another missionary family had to leave by ship to get back to the safety of the USA. Then they were torpedoed, and the big ship sank in under 2 minutes. The survivors were out on the sea in life boats for 20 days and, imaginably so, countless dreadful things happened. Read this spell-binding book and see the horror of this young boy's experience, and then watch as he goes to Germany years later and gets together with the submarine crew who sank their boat! An amazing story of fear, God's amazing mercy, and forgivness among men. It has between the main story, history of the German sub commander and his dealings, and goes on to other places of key people in the rescue. I enjoyed this book immensly! It was very interesting, and I could hardly put it down. Being a WWII bluff, it was right up my alley. Also being a Christian, after reading it I now have so much respect and awe for Ethel Bell. She was mother of the author, and was the only woman and adult Christian in the raft while out at sea for 20 days (and she had to take constant care of the 4 children with her). Her faith was tested by the doubting, challengeing men, but in the end they all thanked her, and attributed their rescue to her for her prayers. A great book of WWII history, German WWII navel history, and a captivating story. A must-read!
