By Charmane Echols

Charmane Echols brings a childhood dream of hers to find a rare diamond to life. In her new book, In My Own Shoes: The Adventures of Kimberlite, Charmane brings to life what it would have been like to find a Kimberlite diamond in the coal mines of West Virginia. As the daughter of a coal miner, Charmane's father promised he would one day find a diamond of her own. While that never happened, she kept the dream alive, and brought it to life in a book for children. In My Own Shoes: The Adventuers of Kimberlite, shares of the mystical creatures Charmane would meet on her journey; while discovering that she was more brave then she imagined...that she was a "true" diamond.
