For those who knew him, Dr.Jiang was one of the leading Christians in China who in a few short years since normalization in 1979 renewed old and established new ties of friendship that transcended time, boundaries and cultures. He was part of a rapidly fading generation of ecumenical leaders from the church in China. He ably communicated and interpreted Christianity in China to the world. Up to the time of his sudden illness he was tirelessly working on five historical monographs, as if he were immortal. We all miss him very much. By CHINA NOTES Fall 1984
