A beautiful lyric is much better with a nice beat. Evan, the stereotypical church musician, using his gift to impress and bed anything with a skirt and Niecy, the perceived uptight super saint, can't stand each other. Unfortunately, him being the music director and her the choir director means they are forced to be cordial and work together. Just when Niecy's had enough of Evan's arrogance and lets the filter off her mouth to put him in his place, she sees something hidden deep within him. Try as she might, she can't ignore it. His compassion and tenderness have Niecy second guessing her perception of him. A peek into Niecy's life, and the trials she faces as a single mother with a deadbeat baby daddy who's in and out of their daughter's life, makes Evan want to support her in any way he can. One night out, away from church obligations, with guards down, old perceptions vanquish and they both begin to wonder if he's the beat to her lyric and she the harmony to his heart.
