In-depth analysis of professional fishing organizations

The in-depth diagnosis of artisanal fisheries Professional Organizations (POs) in Guinea is being carried out within the framework of the AFD-funded project "Support to the Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission for the development of co-management initiatives and for the integration of MPAs in fisheries management in West Africa". It is the second phase of a study of the capacities of professional fishing organizations in Guinea. ADEPA is in charge of the study. The final objective is to propose possible solutions to strengthen the participation of POs in fisheries management in SRFC member countries. The work is the result of semi-structured interactive interviews with various stakeholders, in particular the heads of the UNPAG executive board and members of the Development Committee boards of three landing stages (Taboriah, Bongolon and Koukoud?) on the Guinean coast. External people deemed essential for understanding the environment of fishing POs were also consulted.
