Beautifully written description of life during war in Lebanon

Frances Fuller lived in Lebanon for 30 years. In this book she describes her life amidst the conflict and open warfare of the early 80’s. It is beautifully written, informative and sometimes terribly sad. She stayed because she had developed such strong attachments to the people. She gives a vivid portrayal of what it is like for a civilian during warfare. She also examines the soul of Lebanon- friendships and a deep optimism amidst tragedy and chaos.
