In a Short Space of Time: The 'White Edition'

"I hear you breathe unsleeping in the unquiet grave of night. I meet you walk unthinking in that deathful house, deprived of sight. Do not wait an instant longer, dispel the darkness, part this day -- leave this mansion far behind and enter empires of supernal light." - Edouard d'ArailleA Special Edition reissue of Edouard d'Araille's earliest published complete volume of poetry, 'In a Short Space of Time', originally written under the pseudonym Adam Pathos. Writing under this name from 1996 to 1999, Edouard d'Araille chose to release his first four collections under this name - including two independent verse cycles that ultimately came together in this, his d but full-length poetry volume: 'Unborn Tomorrow' (1997) and 'Even We Are in Arcadia' (1998). This semi-narrative work is available in the White Edition (the current one) and an illustrated edition (not illustrated, only the text of the poems) in which the words and images tell its narrative simultaneously.
YOU I DO NOT KNOW

You I do not know
I want to see
Your face -
You
I do
not
know
now far
removed from here

You have never been
other than You
and
I
have
never been
other than me I am

alternative visions of
thousands of
dozens of
different
things
will
Your
body return
through this door

or is all time a myth

Both romantic and anti-romantic, infused throughout with the spirit of philosophy, this is verse cycle tells the story of a soul craving to be returned to earth to relive its life and all the thoughts and feelings it experienced. Is it reincarnation or 'Eternal Return'? - or is it both of those phenomena at the same time?

BARD OF THE SOUTHwords shall not be hid
nor spells buried - might
shall not sink underground
although the mighty go
THE KALEVALAbard of the south bard of twilight
you oversing your songs of love
poetize romanticize
upon your kantele lamenting

angling for tears in lovers' eyes
missing truth that before you lies
life is simple death is final
don't you see - love is there at hand

you see not what the future brings
nor where days of the past have gone
- immersed in your soliloquy,
blinkered to the light of the sun

you see no more than any man
who breathes and walks upon this earth
indeed you see far less than most
so why pretend that you know more

LOVE ME WHEN I DIE

Love me when I die
I shall be near
Love me
when
I die
I am not
far from here

amethystine
sapphire
resting
on
Your
chest - a
pendulum of
stone caressing flesh

sapphire my companion
give her life to
give her back to me

sapphire my companion
give her Love to
bring her here to me

I LOVE YOU WHEN I DIE
I SHALL BE NEAR
I LOVE YOU
WHEN
I DIE
I'LL BE NOT
FAR FROM HERE
