Intertwined with Jack's search for information is a passionate romance with a beautiful girl, his first true love. Callie, the daughter of a coin dealer, tries to convince Jack that the coins are part of a botched robbery.

Perhaps his greatest nemesis is the deadly secrets and a curse exposed for the first time since the coins were buried in 1880.
