Excellent Book for a Beginner

Being new to LDAP, I found this book to be an invaluable to to get up to speed using LDAP via our Intranet. A nice balance between theory and implementation. Two thumbs up!

Great Book for Understanding LDAP

A well-written book with good balance between design and development topics. A must-have for the beginner and those exploring LDAP services.

A very practical guide on how to program LDAP

This book has one big advantage over a lot of others: It really helps you to understand LDAP and to start programming within few hours! It's obvious that Mark is very into different kinds of programming LDAP clients. This book describes very well how LDAP works, schema, directory, servers, binding... everything is explained in a practical manner based on examples and source code.I liked the most that Mark shows how to bind to an LDAP server with multiple languages and different SDKs, which is very useful if one has to program LDAP clients in multiple ways (e.g. implementing Java clients as well as Perl clients).Great book!

Excellent! A perfect guide to LDAP

This was exactly what I was looking for. Perfect applications for real-world problems. It was concise and straight to the point. I recommend this to anyone who is trying to get a grasp of LDAP.

Useful and varied example-driven book

This book is squarely aimed at the practising developer/administrator, with tons of useful examples in C, Java and Perl. The examples apply equally as well to UNIX and NT, and the problems tackled are rooted in real-world experience. Mark's experience in implementing LDAP for a large user base shows through clearly. Also, there is an honest appraisal of open-source platforms, which is refreshing in a book aimed at pactising pros. Recommended.
