Hydroxyapatite, with the chemical formula Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, is a mineral species belonging to the calcium phosphate family. It is of great importance in the medical field due to its similarity to the composition of bones and teeth. The aim of this work is to prepare hydroxyapatite powders using two different methods: precipitation (HAp-p) and sol-gel (HAp-s). The powders obtained are then subjected to physicochemical analyses, such as Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetry (TG). These analyses provide insight into how synthesis conditions affect the crystal structure, particle size and thermal stability of hydroxyapatite, thereby optimising the preparation of this material for various pharmaceutical and biomedical applications.
