The long jump, in chest technique, is a key event in the Track and Field unit for 8th grade students. This technique focuses on the combination of speed, strength and technique to maximize the distance of the jump. Through this study, a diagnosis is made to know the state of the sport motor skills, especially the long jump chest technique in the Athletics unit for 8th grade students, as well as the use of time in Physical Education classes.Different scientific methods of the theoretical level were used: analysis - synthesis, induction - deduction, historical - logical, as well as the methods of the empirical level: documentary review, observation, research techniques, percentage calculation, participative observation, specialists' criteria, interview, survey, which had the purpose of verifying the problematic situation.
