Impact of logging in Mai-Ndombe

A study on the impact of logging operations has been carried out at SODEFOR (D veloppement forestier) to verify whether or not the company is logging sustainably. The results obtained prove that SODEFOR does not use reduced impact logging (RIL) techniques, which are now considered a major tool for the sustainable management of tropical forests. Nevertheless, SODEFOR is committed to the process of sustainable forest management, and following pressure from the international community, it appears that the Congolese state does not control forest royalties.
