An offbeat fairytale set in modern-day Los Angeles, we follow Kelly (an actor and astrologer) and Ashby (a musician and activist) into the Hollywood Hills and through the labyrinth of modern-day relating in her search for "The One." Through both the written word of email and a splattering of dates, we see the innocence of that first connection fogged by neurotic self-awareness, communicative wire-crossing and even a skin tag snipping that goes terribly awry. As opaque and over-sensitive as Ashby finds Kelly, she finds him equally inscrutable and emotionally unavailable. While no amount of astrological insight or self-analysis can necessarily bridge the gulf between their wildly different worlds, we nonetheless glean moments of a real love story that seems to match the rose-colored tint of the one Kelly imagines. In the end we may ultimately see that the most romantic act of all is learning to accept ourselves and others as they are, and not as we wish them to be.
