There is, therefore, nothing improbable in the fact that the famous white elephant here, the famous ' Iravata ', so famous throughout Asia, could have written his memoirs. The history of his long, sometimes glorious existence, sometimes miserable, through the kingdom of Siam, India of the Maharajahs and the English, is besides full of unexpected and most curious. After being almost an idol, Iravata became a warrior; He is made prisoner with his master, who delivers and saves from death. Then he is deemed worthy to be the guardian and friend of the marvellous little Princess Parvati, for whom he invents extraordinary games and reduces him to a gentle slavery. We shall see how an ugly feeling, which slips into the heart of the good elephant, so wise usually separates him for a long time from his dear princess, throws him into all kinds of adventures and causes him grief-stricken griefs. But at last he finds his faithful friend and forgiveness makes him happy. The value in this title are the illustrations, several that at full page size, created by Mucha the master of Art Nouveau.
