A stunning new thriller from the father of Christian fiction--a grieving husband encounters a teen identical to his dead wife...in face, name, and magical skills. In a world where nothing is as it seems, anything is possible. DANE AND MANDY, a popular magic act for forty years, are tragically separated by a car wreck that claims Mandy's life--or so everyone thinks. Even as Dane mourns, Mandy awakes in the present as the nineteen-year-old she was in 1970. Distraught and disoriented in what to her is the future, she is confined to a mental ward until she discovers a magical ability to pass invisibly through time and space to escape. Alone in a strange world, she uses her mysterious powers to eke out a living, performing magic on the streets and in a quaint coffee shop. Hoping to discover a new talent, Dane ventures into the shop and is transfixed by the illusions that even he, a seasoned professional, cannot explain. But more than anything, he is devastated by this teenager who doesn't know him, is certainly not in love with him, but is in every respect identical to the young beauty he first met and married some forty years earlier. They begin a furtive relationship as mentor and prot g e, but even as Dane tries to sort out who she really is and she tries to understand why she is drawn to him, they are watched by secretive interests who not only possess the answers to Mandy's powers and misplacement in time but also the roguish ability to decide what will become of her. Exceptionally well written, full of twists and mystery, Illusion will soon prove another Peretti classic.
Another great sci fi book by frank peretti. In this one, we follow magician Dan Collins while he tries to unravel the mystery of why this girl who looks exactly like his dead wife (but 40 years younger) keeps popping up and how can she do the things she does? Its a very fun story without too much fear or violence. Making perfect for younger-ish readers (10+) While it wasnt as breathtaking as some of his others, Illusion fits very well within the confines of sci fi/thriller with a dash of romance. A very good standalone novel <3

If I had to label the novel, I'd call Illusion a "faith-based/sci-fi /romance ...with a lot of twists" presented by an excellent writer. Reading about the magic was fun and trying to figure out why Mandy was in more than one place at one time and who might be in control of time and space was, as my headline, states...intriguing.
Illusion is a very disjointed story

I did not finish this book. Not even half way through. Illusion is about a magician, Dane whose magician wife, Mandy, dies and he struggles with the loss. Suddenly, 19 year old Mandy is transported from the 1970s to 2010. She comes in contact with 60 year old Dane while trying to do magic tricks and he tutors her. Meantime, there’s two mysterious men stalking Many (now calling herself Eloise) and a mysterious soldier who was attacked. Also, there is a lot of detail about how Eloise does her magic tricks which may magic or unknown powers.
