Illuminated Journaling is written to challenge Christ Followers to stretch the boundaries of how they have typically studied God's Word so they might experience a deeper, richer and more personal relationship with God. Illuminated Journaling provides a tangible way for us to communicate back to Him that we want to give a gift back that is filled with genuine praise and appreciation for Who He is and what He has done for us.
I am one of the rare people who did not hear about Illuminated Journaling through social media. I was looking around a Christian book store while waiting for my daughter, when I came across Jann Gray's book. I had never seen anything like it before. I love art, but had never considered responding to God with my art. I was drawn to the book, bought it, read it, read it again, gave a couple copies away, and have been inspired by it. I recently read it for the forth time. . . It is a practical book about how and why people do illuminated journaling. There are some examples. She encourages you to try even if you don't think of yourself as being creative. Mrs. Gray isn't the first one to start this wave of creativity. Bibles have been illuminated since the Middle ages. The BOOK of KELLS is a famous example. Shannon Noel has been credited with starting this wave. . . But like a rock thrown into a pool makes ripples that continue onward, Jann has helped the ripples to spread further. I am grateful for her book.
