I'll Go to Jericho

Evans Nyongesa is a young artist, a painter, and carver living with their in a city slum, where they are landlords of the block of houses. His sister Agape is a political activist, brother Wilbur is a driver. Faith, his girlfriend, is a university student who has just finished final year exams. The two met after he gave a speech at an international congress held in the city some time ago. The family are friends with local Catholic cleric of a nearby church. Though Evans is gifted he is not a very good marketer, and so does not earn as much money as he would wish. He is intelligent, sociable and cheerful, and so has many friends, but is also habitually drunk. He keeps losing things, and could go missing for days on end. This is one of those occasions when he is nowhere to be found. His friends and family are looking for him. Everyone is optmisitic of finding him, drunk or perhaps in a police cell, and at first are only half hearted in their endeavour. As time goes by, however, a grim aspect envelopes the cohort. Through their individual and collective effort, as they reflect, a composite picture of the artist emerges, and with it the complex problems of poverty, urbanization, family, religion, and art; shining multiple and critical perspectives on the contemporary world and the redemption of humankind.
