This book is for EVERYONE

This book is for all of us who are schlugging through the days fretting and worrying. We need books like this to remind us that, no matter what, we can go on and flourish with verve and hope and joy. After reading this book I was better equipped to be understanding, loving, and compassionate to those around me who need healing of ANY kind.

Quality of life is what counts, not its length.

Thousands of people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many people react as though the diagnostic finding is a death sentence. Some people turn the illness into a life-transforming experience. Lynne Massie is one of those. Lynne felt waves of anxiety and panic when she was told that the tumor in her breast was too large to be removed by lumpectomy; that she must have a mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Lynne started asking many questions about the doctors, the treatments, and her future. "Reading book after book about survivors," she says, "one thing becomes evident. Almost without fail, those cancer victims who survive terrible odds take charge of their lives spiritually and holistically." During what felt like an exhausting marathon of treatments, Lynne examined her life and what was important to her. She wrote poems about her feelings and shared them with her family, friends, and minister. She decided that one way to beat cancer was to fill her days with enjoyable activities such as playing golf and showing her beloved purebred dogs at dog shows. Now cancer free for many years, Lynne says that "cancer became not the enemy, but the teacher. Length of life is inconsequential. It is truly the quality of the journey. Living each day in alignment with my internal truth, in a matter that is totally congruent inside and out, is beating cancer to the ultimate."

learning to enjoy life

This book was a wonderful inspiration to enjoy every minute that I have in life and to live without regrets. It taught me not to get upset about the small stuff and just go with the flow when things go wrong. I have learned that there is something good in every bad experience.
