Ike's Bittersweet Life: A Prequel to Our Life with Ike

This is a prequel to Our Life with Ike. The Cameron kids are 13 along with Ike. There is abuse from Stanley to Kristy and Ike. Kristy takes her two kids Ike and Leo and her nephew Devin to the same Universalist congregation we the Cameron's go to. It is liberal religion where all are accepted. There is a problem because some adults are very vocal in this small congregation of 125 people. Some adults would say in front of Ike that they would not work with him or teach a class if he was in there because they didn't like his behaviors. Ike started at this church when he was four years old. Then Kristy met Stanley when Ike was five years old. By the time Ike was eight years old a few cracks showed but noone knew what was going on. By the time Ike was thirteen it was getting clear that something was wrong but only it seemed that the Cameron kids were picking up on it. Everything is going smoothly until Kristy had to get a protection order to prevent Stanley coming around. Stanley's guns get taken away. Ike and the Cameron kids continue to have fun and draw up plans for a the land Jack Kennedy got them. Jack is the donor for the Cameron kids. There is Jill and Rusty twins born in June and Mickey, Farland, and Pherson triplets born the in March a few months before the twins. Ike was born in August of the same year. Mickey struggles with her being a lesbian. The Cameron kids talk with their two Moms about how Ike gets treated at the Universalist Congregation. Kristy, Ike and Leo stay quiet and reserved. Meg and Stacy have a conversation with the minister and how they are terribly upset about what is said in the congregation about Ike. The minister didn't do anything so the Cameron family decided to not attend any more. Meg and Stacy tried to get Kristy to stop going but little did they know it was her few hours of reprieve for her and the kids. When Ike was thirteen he spoke up to a teacher about Stanley's abuse and Leo was fearful. Stanley who had never been to this congregation approached Ann MacDonald a teacher a week later after Ann MacDonald reported the abuse to the minister and he said to the teacher you'll be sorry one year from now which was early December when Ike was thirteen.
