"Much like Donna Tartt's The Secret History, M. L. Rio's sparkling debut is a richly layered story of love, friendship, and obsession...will keep you riveted through its final, electrifying... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This. Book. Is. Fantastic.
I originally picked it up after hearing about it online and thought I’d give it a shot. I’m so glad I did! It has mystery, romance, a bit of queer love and all the academia vibes. I think this has taken the spot as number one. I don’t want to share too much so I don’t spoil but the ending is CRAZY
The most boring book I have ever read.

I just finished "If We Were Villains" by M. L. Rio. In my opinion, the book is okay. The characters are mostly one-sided. The only two characters I kind of cared about were Meredith and James. I'm not going to spoil what happens in the plot. What I love about it are all of the Shakespeare references, since I'm a huge fan of Shakespeare's works. I don't know why, but as I was reading it, one one of the characters says they're blaming Shakespeare for the murd#r, making me think of the real murd#r trial of Nathan Leopold & Richard Loeb. What I think of the book is it is a 3 out of 5 ⭐️.
A great thriller!

The story is well written by M.L. Rio, the characters are not as amoral as in The Secret History by Donna Tartt, but they are theater students and do live in their own world. I love the Shakespeare quotes. The mystery is surprisingly good. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
