Inspirational book for wives and mothers

What if Eve hadn't eaten that forbidden fruit? Maybe we'd be perfect-or perhaps one of us, instead of Eve, would have fallen to that temptation. Personally, I have to admit, I'd probably have grabbed that fruit and run with it-right into all the problems and trials awaiting me, and all women.IF IT WEREN'T FOR EVE, I'D BE A PERFECT WIFE is a humorous and touching account of one woman's struggle for perfection, both in herself and her husband. Camp writes openly about her temptations, failures, pride, and desire to be in control. I was touched by her story of how she learned to allow her husband to be the spiritual head of the house, instead of taking on that job herself. Allowing God to plan the size of their family, in spite of major problems during Terri's pregnancies and the deliveries of their children, is a decision the Camps are happy they made. A mother of eight, Camp writes, "Letting God plan your family size is not only about the children. It is also about what happens in your spiritual walk when you are willing to surrender even your very lives to the will of the Father." (p. 83)Camp writes about marriage and motherhood with openness, vulnerability, and grace. She incorporates Scripural truths into her writing in a way that is natural and inspiring. I recommend this book to mothers. Camp homeschools, writes a weekly column for crosswalk.com, hosts an online talk show on yourplace.com, and speaks publicly on several topics. Visit her website at terricamp.com. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.

A Great Book!

Once upon a time, Eve offered a piece of fruit to Adam, who said, "But God said we shouldn't . . ." - to which Eve replied, "But nothing, this is good stuff!" The rest is history. If it Weren't For Eve, I'd Be a Perfect Wife is a humorous look at the many ways women strive to take control of their lives, their marriages, and their children. Author Terri Camp uses examples from her own life to show us how to take the focus from ourselves and place it instead on God and what He desires for us.Terri has a wonderful way of poking fun at herself and her own misplaced attempts to be the "perfect wife" that will make you laugh aloud. At the same time, Terri uses this wit to point us to Biblical truths and help us see how we can align our thoughts and desires with God's will for our lives as women, wives, and mothers.A good example of Terri's sense of humor to illustrate a Biblical point can be found in her chapter titled "The WWW Syndrome":"In case you think, in this age of computers, that I was transformed into the World Wide Web and suddenly shot through the information superhighway at rapid speed, you are mistaken. What I became was the Wicked Witch of the West. My head began to throb as I ranted and raged. I should have found a pointed hat to go with the broom I was wielding, but I wasn't thinking clearly enough to grab a hat."If it Weren't For Eve, I'd Be a Perfect Wife is one book you won't be able to put down. You'll rejoice with Terri as she comes to realize that, "a perfect wife looks at her husband every day, and says, "Thank you, Lord!"Terri lives with her husband, Steve, and their eight children in the Midwest. Terri has been a home educator for many years and is the host of a one-hour educational talk show on www.oneplace.com. She also writes a weekly column for www.crosswalk.com.
