Surprisingly, I liked this book a lot.

I'm not really into devotional-type books, but then again, this really isn't a devotional in the traditional sense of the word. I found a lot of humor here -- and not a lot of jargon. I really appreciated that. Also, the tone was from the heart, not preachy or condemning.I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to discover or become closer to God -- and that includes people beyond the church.

This book distinguishes itself from similar titles on the market. It's not written in Christian jargon; it has a fresh, converstional tone. It features a short devotion, a memorable quote, and a one-sentence quip that sums up each selection. I like the fact that the quotes were a good mixture of Bible verses and quotes from a variety of sources -- even characters from the upcoming novel "The Stand-Up Guy." This book is also one of the few devotionals that offers moments of genuine humor. It would be a good choice for anyone who is bored or uninspired by run-of-the-mill devotionals.
